Agerola Fiordilatte Mozzarella Cheese: an Authentic Tradition of the Campania region.

Friday, 26 July 2019

Agerola is a quiet small town located on a promontory overlooking the Amalfi Coast, nestled between the sea and the Park of the Lattari Mountains, at 650mt above the sea level. It’s a must-visit destination for trekking enthusiasts, nature-lovers and those who love great food; it’s the ideal place to spend a pleasant vacation, surrounded by the landscapes of the Amalfi Coast and pampered by the generous hospitality of the locals.

The trails starting off from Agerola satisfy both amateurs and the most experienced hikers: they offer thrilling experiences. The very famous Path of the Gods, the Ferriere Valley, and the less well-known Sentiero dei Tre Calli are just some of the trails that intersect in this small village. Furthermore, thanks to its favorable position, from Agerola you can enjoy a breathtaking view extending from the Gulf of Salerno to Punta Campanella, with a glimpse over Capri Island and its Faraglioni. The fresh air and the mild climate of this area promise many relaxing and inspiring moments.

Agerola was named after the latin word ager, which means “field,” and connotes the strong farming and dairy traditions associated with the town.

As a matter of fact, the Fiordilatte mozzarella cheese of Agerola is one of the most appreciated cheeses in Italy, a rigorously-determined POD product. It’s so delicious to eat freshly-made or used as an ingredient in many recipes. It’s perfect, especially in the summer season.

There are so many delicious ways to eat this iconic cheese: from a simple to prepare Caprese salad, to the more complex fried Mozzarella in Carrozza! Agerola Fiordilatte is famous worldwide, boasting an extended export abroad, as well as a special celebration festival as well.

As a matter of fact, this year this little town will host the 39th edition of Fiordilatte Fiordifesta, a 3-day event that celebrates the fiordilatte mozzarella cheese and other typical local products. From the 3rd to the 5th of August, get ready to taste delicious foods, enjoy the musical performances and be overwhelmed by the atmosphere of the Notti Bianche (White Nights).
